I walk and talk with a friend at least once a week when we are both in the country, and I have been walking and talking and walking and thinking for many years now. My walking buddy and I decided that walking and talking is great way to further develop our artist network in ImmART and make a positive impact on the community we live in.

The recent spate of shootings in Copenhagen made me think about this incredibly inspiring TEDTalk where two passionate women speak about the difference women walking can make in a community, and how walking can empower us.

Did you know there is a word for people who walk around and think? They are referred to as PERIPATETICs … I know … it sounds like VERY PATHETIC … which of course, we are not!!

  3. one who walks about

From September, we shall start a weekly walk in Copenhagen for the peripatetics among us! The only agenda is to walk for a minimum of 45 minutes and a maximum of 75 minutes, and talk and listen … talk about your artistic process, talk about ideas you have, talk about the challenges you are facing, talk about your successes and share your ideas and knowledge, and listen.

If you would like to start a walking group where you live, please feel free. Drop Nicol an email on nicol.immart@gmail.com and we can work out a plan!

A closed Facebook Group called ImmART Peripatetics has been set up, and we would really like to welcome to the group only those who are dedicated to joining the walks, so click here and “ask to join” if you are up to it.

I look forward to walking and talking with you in September!

Wishing you a productive and fun week ahead!

Nicol
