Engagement with both Immigrants and Danes in all aspects of the projects we initiate and support is an absolute must. We believe that this is the only way for integration to have a chance of succeeding. We are currently planning the following events and projects:
- The Immigrant Art Festival, Artival 2016, will be held in Copenhagen 24 September to 1 October.Artival is a new festival organized by Immigrant Art that aims to raise awareness about the diversity among artists of different nationalities who are living in Denmark. We aim to showcase the beauty and magic of creative integration through pictorial art, photography, street art, artistic exploratoria, poetry and more. Read more about the Artival on our website here.
- Immigrant Art presents Zahr Mi and Saif Aldeen Tahhan’s joint visual art exhibition #savesyriankids at Nordvest Bibliotek in November 2016 (vernissage 3 November). More information to follow.
- For our Documentary Film Making Seminar Series we shall organize ‘teachers’ and ‘students’ for a series of seminars on documentary film making. Participants will be from different backgrounds and simply share a desire to learn more about making documentary films. They shall learn the basics and more during the course and be able to make a documentary film upon completion.
- For our short documentary film, Denmark in 2 minutes, Immigrants with refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds shall make a 2 minute video using their own phones or gadgets showing and/or telling viewers what Denmark is to them. A team of producers from different countries will work together to produce a short documentary film.
- Inspired by the work and passion of Zahr Mi and Saif Aldeen Tahhan, we are planning a photographic book in order to raise money for the children who are suffering in different regions as a consequence of the war in Syria. We are working with an international team of experienced photographers and hope to publish in 2016. In conjunction with the project, we have been invited to exhibit the works at the Årstidsfest in Vanløse on 24 September 2016.
- We are in dialogue with Henrik Juhl Andersen, who recently opened the Global Art Gallery in Vanløse, about exhibiting works of art by Immigrant artists and holding talks, workshops and other events at the gallery housed by Global CSR in the future.
- We are also working with Tina Vehage Lorien, owner of Gallerie Lorien in Frederiksberg on arranging exhibitions and talks at the gallery in 2017.
- We have an ongoing relationship with Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke/ActionAid Denmark. We recently exhibited the artwork of poet and artist Arsalan Chalabi, a recent arrival in Denmark with Kurdish origins, at Café Mellemrummet. We have also been tasked with finding artists to work on one of the walls inside the café and on one of the exterior wall spaces.
